Frequently Asked Questions
  • Handcrafted furniture is built individually with greater attention to detail, material selection, joinery, dimensional constraints and finish quality.

Unlike mass-produced furniture, which is often made overseas from subpar materials with unsubstantial joinery techniques, custom hardwood furniture is designed for longevity and often becomes a lasting heirloom piece.

All of my furniture is handmade in New Jersey. See my portfolio page for examples of my work.

  • Absolutely. Every piece is made to order, allowing customers to customize dimensions, wood species, finish color, edge details, and design elements. I regularly work with clients to create furniture tailored specifically to their home and lifestyle.

  • I primarily work with solid hardwood species like walnut, maple, ash, cherry, mahogany and white oak.

Walnut is my preferred hardwood, as it’s color, grain pattern and fiber structure possess a beauty, in my opinion, that outshines all the rest. While I prefer to build pieces from highly figured woods, I work with my clients to achieve whatever best fits their vision. I carefully select hardwoods for their grain character, durability, and natural beauty.

  • Solid wood furniture should be cleaned with a soft cloth, and at most a slightly damp cloth followed by a dry cloth, only when necessary. I recommend avoiding excessive moisture, harsh chemical cleaners, and prolonged direct sunlight. Also, it is helpful to keep your home between 35%-50% humidity to prevent excessive shrinking and swelling. Properly cared for hardwood furniture can last for generations.
